Tucano 12-inch PowerBook sleeve and bag

So, after lots of looking around, I finally ordered a sleeve and bag for my 12" PowerBook G4. I found a great price ($14 + shipping) for the Tucano designed-for-PowerBook sleeve at RoyalBusiness.com (whoever they are). And since it was so cheap, I also tossed in the Tucano shoulder bag for the PowerBook. Frankly, the hard part was figuring out what was what, but the model numbers on the Royal Business site matched up with the codes on the Italian language Tucano site (after removing the dashes), so I figured it out. The bag (BOL2APG) was only $29, so it was a cheap risk.

They both arrived today, and I'm pretty happy. I should have gotten the sleeve in black or red instead, but oh well. Ironically, I'll probably get more use out of the shoulder bag even though I started out looking just for a sleeve. I hope this helps someone. If you have any comments, drop me a note at kl@faircraft.com.

Cool. It comes in a sturdy ziplock bag. For those that want a storage case for their sleeve, I suppose.

Here it is without the PowerBook inside. Dual zippers at top. Notice the logo is in black instead of white as shown on the Tucano site. I think I should have gone for black or red instead.

This is the corner of the reverse side. On the left side it says "ALUMINUM alloy".

PowerBook inside. It fits very nicely.

Here it is with the top held open by a stapler (not included).

Like most sleeves there is extra material to protect the case from the zipper.

The strap is adjustable but not removeable. No handle. Flap closes with velcro and a clip on side side. Strap is padded, but not is not a "banana strap" so it rests a bit funny on the shoulder.

PA110118.JPG
Inside the main compartment there is a padded area for the PowerBook and lots of additional room for other stuff.

PA110115.JPG
This is the case with 3 "computer book sized" paperbacks and 2 novels. Despite appearances, it was not a tight fit.

PA110117.JPG
The entire inside compartment can be (mostly) closed off with the sinch cord. (The 5 books aren't inside at this point.)

PA110108.JPG
This shows 3 things. 1. PowerBook fits in the bag inside it's sleeve. (Duh, you'd hope so, but it was a bit of a squeeze.) 2. The grey of the sleeve differs from the interior grey. 3. You can see the main exterior pocket holding a full-sized mouse and a power supply (the glimpse of white in the middle). A small camera and portal hard drive would fit, but this part is not padded.

Ah, that's a better angle.

That pocket closes up with 2 zippers.

2 pen loops, a thin mesh zippered pocket and a velcro iPod pocket. It's a snug fit for a second-gen iPod without a case. Since I never take it out of it's case, this is more of a gimmick than a valid iPod pocket. Maybe a mini would fit nicely.
